Personalizing the Outlook Interface

Introduction

The Outlook Interface is built for the users around lesser number of fundamentals but their arrangement shifts according to the view of your choice which you can chose from the navigation pane at the bottom. Each item of Outlook such as Mail, calendar, contacts, etc. has a specific layout for each to view. And also the displayed content in center pane is controlled by selecting the specific folder. The summary of upcoming task, appointment and date navigator are displayed on the Right most views of the To-Do-Bar.
Bu using the shortcuts you can quickly open any item of Outlook such as: Ctrl+1 for Mail, Ctrl+6 for folder list, Ctrl+2 for Calendar. Seventh icon in Outlook is known as shortcuts and allows accumulating a shortcut list to Outlook folder. The eight icons is for Journal folder, by default it is hidden.


By using the command from the view tab in the layout group, you can change the arrangement of items in each view.  When you make customization to the specific view are restored and saved when you return to that view.


 Each view has a different layout. For example, click on the icon of Mail view and the Navigation pane view all the folders present in mail folder, with a list of customizable favorite items at the top of the pane. To quickly open the folder, drag folder of your choice into the Favorites pane.



Customization of Navigation Pane

By default you can see the Navigation pane on the left side of Outlook window. If you have small size display on PC, so you can minimize this Navigation pane to a slim strip by clicking on the arrow at the top right corner. It will give you the more space to working with the current folder. When you minimized the navigation pane, you can see the word folder appear in all view and you can also view the first few choices from the favorite section. To choose a particular folder to display the popup list, click on the Folders and suddenly a popup list will appear, after you select what you want then again the list will disappear.


If you want to completely hide the navigation pane, make a right click on the minimized pane and choose the Off, from the shortcut menu. Select the Expand arrow from the top right corner of the navigation pane, which restore the pane of its full width.
